BREAKING: American Doom files in federal court to unseal key FBI Fulton County raid documents
In a federal court filing this afternoon, we're seeking the Justice Department's affidavit that led to the unprecedented seizure of Georgia election records.
In a filing this afternoon in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, I’m seeking the release of the affidavit that led to the FBI raid in Fulton County that netted the Trump administration hundreds of thousands of ballots and other material from the 2020 election.
While the search warrant for that raid has been made public, the Justice Department’s affidavit has not. That document would include the government’s argument that crimes have been committed related to the 2020 election. So far, Americans are in the dark about what probable cause the government would have to conduct such an unprecedented action just months before an election.
This document is crucial for the public to know more about why President Donald Trump’s Justice Department seized the records, which were already scheduled to be released as part of a separate, civil matter in federal court. No other media organizations have yet to file a motion like the one that will be filed this afternoon by lawyers working on my behalf in Atlanta.
My hope is that the judge who has been assigned this case — which includes Fulton County’s response to the raid — will quickly decide to unseal the Justice Department affidavit so Americans can understand more about why the government is now in possession of a mountain of material from an election that occurred more than five years ago.
